Patient evaluations are made through DANPEP.

What is DANPEP?

DANPEP stands for Danish patients evaluate practice.

DANPEP is a method where patients in a questionnaire evaluate their doctors and general practices.

The questionnaire concerns the patients' experience of practice and includes significant questions to which the patients have the opportunity to provide relevant answers.

The result of the survey is used to focus on the patient experienced quality and to create changes in own practice.

Participation in DANPEP is personal, but for practices of more than one doctor, it is a great advantage for the follow-up that all the doctors are involved.

The regional committees for quality and post-education offer the DANPEP-evaluation to the practitioners in their region.

The survey and the reporting of results is carried out by DAK-E/DANPEP.

Data Collection
The GP receives the material to study with a detailed guide. Physicians include even patients to the study by handing out questionnaires to consecutive patients who meet a few criteria. Patients send the reply forms to DAK-E/DANPEP for further assessment.

Reporting
The GP gets a personalised report containing the results of the evaluation. The report includes aggregated data for the other participating doctors in the region, so the doctor has the opportunity to compare and perspective on his/her own result. It is also possible to obtain an overall result of a practice or a training group.

Follow-up
To achieve a lasting effect of the evaluation, it is important to discuss and to process the patient assessments as well as own thoughts and experiences with colleagues. The follow-up evaluation is conducted locally and is not a part of the DANPEP-evaluation. The doctor’s and the practice’s evaluations may be supported by regional quality development consultants and training mentors.
