ICPC – International Classification of Primary Care Since 1998 the Danish version of ICPC has been implemented in the electronic health record systems in general practice in Denmark.
In 2008 the Danish classification was updated under the name of ICPC-2-DK.
User friendly implementation of ICPC-2-DK into the 12 electronic health record systems is an ongoing process and the functionality in each system has to be approved by MedCom (the administrative co-operation between authorities, organizations and private companies linked to the Danish healthcare sector).
ICPC-2-DK is more extended than just a direct translation of ICPC-2 as it includes a newly renovated alphabetic index and a complete mapping for the ICD-10 classification used in hospitals. The mapping of diagnoses provides better possibilities for a coherent patient journey between sectors on the basis of diagnoses.
to develop and maintain the ICPC classification so that ICPC-2-DK can continue to be well-integrated in the electronic health record systems in Denmark.
to provide GPs’ easy and quick access to relevant information and guidelines concerning the treatment of patients.
