Key data are transferred from the GP’s electronic health record system to the database. Most data are automatically collected by the IT programme called Sentinel Data Capture – these data include prescribed drugs, National Health Service disbursement codes, laboratory analysis results and ICPC diagnoses.
Additional information is collected via pop-up screens which the GP has to fill in during the consultation. The pop-up screen is designed specific for the chronic disease in question or for a particular research project.
All data are linked to the patient’s personal id and the timestamp for the consultation and stored in the DAMD database.
The database is hosted at the University of Southern Denmark under severe security restrictions.
Purpose
The purpose of DAMD is to promote an improvement of the quality in general practice as well as to provide data for further research concerning general practice – which in the end also may contribute to a better performance of the overall healthcare in Denmark when it comes to quality and continuity of treatments.
